Can't Reinstall or Uninstall Exchange Server 2013

Installed exchange 2013 on windows server 2012. Thought got it right but can't open its exchange admin center, the shell can't access the exchange server and faced a few other problems as well. Decided to uninstall it and fresh install it but faced problem during first uninstallation. Trying to reinstall it but got errors as well. Could be due to the fact I removed users and groups created during the installation from the Active Directory. Delete it because I found the method that said it is working to remove mailbox for uninstallation.

Any other ways to completely remove it and start to fresh install again? Don't wish to reformat the server fo

Hi

Can you provide more information on the errors?

You can try recover it if you have blown the server away. When you run the uninstall from the control panel what errors do you get? Is your account part of the correct groups so that i can be removed from AD etc.?

Did try recover it before (install with command prompt) but get the message of "Server is not found in active directory. Server must be present in active directory to recover" Go to registry and delete the attribute of Action for both key of ClientAccessRole and MailboxRole, the installation can be started by I get the following message in the installer as "There is no such object on the server.".

When I try uninstall in programs and features, I get the message of "An incomplete installation was detected. Run setup to complete Exchange installation"

Then when I try install again with the setup.exe, I get the message of "Setup previously failed while performing the action Uninstall. You can't resume setup by performing the action Install"

Before I tried the two actions above, I intended to uninstall it, so I went to Programs and Features. I encountered the message of "One or more users currently use a mailbox store on this server"

Based on suggestions in the internet, I went to delete users and groups related to Exchange in Active Directory. Did try the registry changes as well but can't either install or uninstall it. Should I restore back the deleted users and groups to AD? is there any way to retrieve it

Hi,

Please execute the following command using command promt (run cmd as administrator) to have a try:

Setup.exe /mode:Uninstall /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms

If it still can't be uninstalled, please use ADSIEdit to remove the server in the following location:
CN=configuration > DC=domain name,DC=com > CN=Services > CN=Microsoft Exchange > CN=<YourExchOrgName> -> CN=Administrative Group -> CN=Exchange Administrative Group -> CN=Servers

Then reinstall the Exchange server to have a try.
