My calendar reminders keep popping up long after the event. How can I stop this?

Run outlook.exe with the /cleanreminders switch.

are you dismissing the reminders or snoozing or jsut clicking the X in the upper right-hand corner?

I have tried all the above. I finally went into Outlook and turned off the reminder option but I would like to have it come up at least once.
