Calendar Error
Hi everyone, I have an Exchange 2010 environment with clients running outlook 2007. we have a shared calendar that people view and setup training. I have an employee setup as an owner of the calendar that grants permissions to other employees. When granting a user permissions, she receives an error "an error occurred when setting scheduled permissions" Has anyone seen this error before? Thanks,

She has to have full access on the mailbox.Dhruv

That can't be right; that would give the user full access to every folder in the mailbox along with Send on Behalf of rights and that is certainly not the way it worked in previous versions of Exchange. I hope MS didn't lessen security with the new version. Are there any corresponding events in the event log on the Exchange server? Can the designated owner perform other actions in the calendar? Does this happen when she tries to give permission to all users or only some? One really bad thing to try is to remove the owner permissions for that user and give them back again; this has worked for earlier versions.TBrennan

What permission did you granted to the delegate user? And how does the delegate user try to grant permission to other users before receiving the error message "an error occurred when setting scheduled permissions"? Based on my local test, “Full Access Permission” should be granted to the delegate user so that the delegate user can grant other user permission in Outlook. For more information, please refer to the following Microsoft articles: Mailbox Permissions http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638132.aspx Allow Mailbox Access http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996343.aspx Manage Full Access Permissions http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb676551.aspx Hope it is useful. No, while this is correct in that it will allow the user given Full Access the necessary permission to grant permission to other users it is not the best way to do it. Best practise dictates giving the least privilege absolutely required to perform a task. From http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb676551.aspx: "When you grant the Full Access permission to another user for a mailbox, that user will be able to log on to the mailbox and access its entire contents." That means a user given Full Access to this mailbox intended as a Calendar has access and can use all the folders. With this permission level (or role) You can Owner Create, read, modify, and delete all items (item: An item is the basic element that holds information in Outlook (similar to a file in other programs). Items include e-mail messages, appointments, contacts, tasks, journal entries, notes, posted items, and documents.) and files, and create subfolders. As the folder owner, you can change the permission levels others have for the folder. (Does not apply to delegates.) Your original post did not mention you made the user a delegate of the calendar, you said you made her the owner. Check out http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2530497#appliesto. This talks about the ACL for an Outlook 2007 folder becoming corrupt preventing the owner from changing the permissions on the folder.TBrennan
