Cached-mode clients downloading all mail after failing over to abother server in an array for patching?
Is there a reason why all Outlook clients in cached-mode are downloading (so it seems) all mail folder by folder despite it already being on the client after we failed over to another database server in the array? This wasn't quite expected and is not causing an issue but I am wondering if this is indeed anticipated behavior. Anyone have an answer on this as I have searched quite a while. Environment: Exchange 2010 Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2010

As far my knowledge , It should not happen. What am thinking is, If there is a discrepancy in data between these nodes. Then it might happens . -- Do we have any replication errors or anythings in the Event viewer /Satheshwaran Manoharan | Exchange 2003/2007/2010 | Blog:http://www.careexchange.in | Please mark it as an answer if it really helps you

Can we get a confirmation that cached clients have no reason to re-download all mail in their mailbox as some type of consistancy check after failing over to another mailstore? If there is absolutely no reason then it may mean we have something not right in our configuration but I would like to know if there is anything that could trigger this activity. Thanks!

Hello, Yes, the behavior is abnormal. Since the issue occurs to the cached mode clients, the only possibility I can think of is that the local data files may corrupted. Then Outlook think it need to re-sync all the data from Exchange DB. You can consult our Outlook professional and see if there are other possibilities. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/outlook/threads Thanks, Simon
