CU9 Update Prereqs Failing

I am trying to upgrade our current Exchange 2013 SP1 (CU4) to CU9.  I have a CAS and MBX server in Site A, and a CAS and MBX server in Site B.  The MBX and CAS roles run on separate servers.  I have a DAG between the two sites and the CAS servers are load balanced behind F5's.  The Forest and Domain functional levels are both set to Windows Server 2012 R2.  The user account that I am using is a part of Domain Admins, Enterprise Admins, Schema Admins and also a part of the Exchange Organizational Management group.  I started on the MBX server in Site B (DR site) and received the following errors/warnings when the prereq check was occurring:

Fix this one first:

Error:

Setup encountered a problem while validating the state of Active Directory: Exchange organization-level objects have not been created, and setup cannot create them because the local computer is not in the same domain and site as the schema master.  Run setup with the /prepareAD parameter on a computer in the domain wsecu and site HQ1, and wait for replication to complete.  See the Exchange setup log for more information on this error.

by moving the Schema Master role to a DC in the same site where you're performing the update.  I recommend you run Setup.exe /PrepareSchema before doing anything else.  If this works, then run Setup /PrepareAD and then Setup /PrepareAllDomains.  Then try the update

Hi,

I agree with ED's response .

You need to prepare Active Directory (/prepareAD) and prepare the Active Directory Schema for the installation of Exchange 2013 CU9.

Please refer to the below link to execute the PrepareSchema action, and move the schema master .

Thank you.  That fixed the issue. I ran the /PrepareSchema and /PrepareAD in the site that housed the FSMO roles and then upgraded the DR site with no issues. Thank you very much for your guidance.
