CAS server for mailbox
first of all Happy New Year, I have DAG set on 2 exchange 2010 servers and I have added another 2 servers having the CAS role. Now if one of the DAG servers fails the database will still survive as there is the other DAG member alive however what happens with the CAS server, will it switch over to the other available CAS servers. Do I have to manually specify the other CAS server on Outlook or do I need to specify a CAS server for each mailbox as it is a 1 to 1 map. ( I know there is NLB but wanted to know in the just mentioned situation what would be the outcome ) Thanks

The Outlook mapi clients will atempt to connect to whatever CAS or CAS Array is specified by the RpcClientAccessServer attribute on the mailbox database their mailbox is homed to. You should really be using a CAS Array.
