Greetings,

I have configured CAS NLB with Unicast.

2 CAS Servers 192.168.X.X

2 NIC each for both the CAS in same Subnet

NLB VIP 192.168.X.X 

I am able to ping CAS NLB with in same subnet. But not able to ping it from different Subnet.

Have seen ARP entry article but that is in case of Muticast.

Is it ok to configure the CAS NLB with Unicast when the VMs are on VMware solution.

Please suggest.

Hi,

We've used multicast for our CAS array on VMware. I found that VMware recommended it over unicast - see here: http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/implmenting_ms_network_load_balancing.pdf.

You need to ensure that you have static ARP entries on your switches to support the multicast MAC address/unicast IP combination. More info below:
