CAS/HUB Inbound SMTP through WNLB
Hi,I know this has probably been discussed repeatedly. However, I am still unable to find the steps to get the proper configuration when I have the CAS/Hub roles on the same servers with redundant nodes.WNLB per this doc. It states to disable port 25 and 465 in the Port Rules. If I dont have Edge Transport servers, how do I get the High Availability I need for incoming SMTP and TLS for my Hub Transport roles? I cant configure my Firewall to use the WNLB IP Address. My CAS roles are fine of course since they are Load Balanced for Ports 80 and 443. Can someone point the way? I would prefer not to separate the CAS and Hub Transport roles due to the licensing and cost issues. Thanks.

2007 with SP1 supports WNLB for the Hub Transport role.bascially deploy WNLB on the Hub servers and enable the ports you need. See this link: http://telnetport25.wordpress.com/2008/03/24/quick-tip-configuring-network-load-balancing-nlb-on-windows-2008-for-exchange-cas-servers/You can apply it to the HUB as well. BP

Hi,Thank you very much. I believe I misunderstood the article that I read. Basically, the article states that WNLB is not Microsoft supported under the RTM version since it was not extensively tested prior to release. That's why he has it disabled. SP1, however, was. Since I have SP1 edition, I am fine with enabling those ports (article). Thanks again. Much appreciated.
