Bypass Barracuda Spam filter on Exchange 2010 rule and connector

Hi guys,

We have a Barracuda Spam Firewall box in our company. The box is currently the last step before our outgoing mail goes outside. It is connected to our Exchange 2010 server. Currently, we have a user who is asking that his emails will go out without passing through the Barracuda box. Barracuda's recommendation was to create a send connector on the Exchange server that will go out to the internet and then create a transport rule for this particular user. Going through the send connectors settings, I do not have any issue creating it from a setup perspective. The issue is with the transport rule. After naming the rule and choosing "from people" as a condition and choosing the email address I want that will bypass the Barracuda, I am hitting a brick wall in the "Actions" tab. There is not an option there to choose the new send connector.
Is there any way this can be done?
Am I even doing this right or is there another way to bypass this box?

Thanks!!!

Hey Ro

There is no option in the Transport Rules to do that.

Is it possible that they meant that the Send connector will allow the user's ip address to send through it and the forwarding address of the connector will be directly to the internet?

this also will not solve your situation, is there a way to configure the barracuda to bypass this specific user?

Best regards

Asaf,

Toda raba for the answer.

Unf', there is not an option on the Barracuda to whitelist a specific email.

Can I direct the send connector to allow a specific user IP? This users' computer has a static IP address. If so, can you walk me through the process?

Much appreciated!

Hi,

Based on my knowledge, we can't create a send connector for a specific user in Exchange 2010:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/fd4ccde0-d389-4f2e-95a3-2a6493ae9f8c/allow-only-certain-users-to-send-external-email-on-a-send-connector?forum=exchange2010

It is only supported to configure a dedicated Send Connector for a specific domain:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj839710%28v=exchg.141%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

Maybe you need to find any third-party program to route by sender in Exchange server.

No, that's not possible.

Exchange message routing is based on recipient domain. There is no way to setup a special route based on sender email address.

The most reasonable solution is to configure the Barracuda so that it does not scan the email sent from that email address.

Unf', the Barracuda box knows how to avoid scanning the user but the main issue is that his emails will still show in the message log and he is not interested... he simply wants his name COMPLETELY off the Barracuda...

Any other ideas guys?

Unfortunately, that's not possible.

As a reasonable end user, one should not worry about which host his email passing through. Just like one should not concern about which post man delivers mail into his letter box.

Instead, his concern is that the email should not be blocked by someone.
