Business Contact Manager in Outlook 2013 - Error found in Custom UI XML

I've recently upgraded many clients to Outlook 2013.  I've downloaded and installed the updated version of Business Contact Manager.  However, I then receive this error:

Error found in Custom UI XML of "Business Contact Manager for Outlook":
Line: 973
Column: 45
Error Code 0x80004005
Failed to find Office control by ID
ID: OmsForwardAsTextMessage

All custom forms and fields in BCM no longer work as well rendering it basically useless. I've found that installing Outlook 2010 side by side with Outlook 2013 resolves this problem.

This scenario then causes the "Upgrade In Progress" issue in 2013 causing me to have to Repair the installation to fix Outlook. This is all fine until some Office 2010 update comes in overnight and then Outlook 2013 is broke all over again. I have come to expect this whenever Outlook 2013 stops sending/receiving emails. However, it is a problem for the BCM users that aren't as technically inclined, leading to the occasional support call when Outlook 2013 suddenly stops working.

Is there a better solution to getting Business Contact Manager to work in Outlook 2013?  Most recommendations I've found online recommend removing 2010 to get rid of the Upgrade In Progress issue. However, most solutions do not seem to be having the other issue regarding the custom forms in BCM.  I would prefer to not have Outlook 2010 installed at all.

All computers are running Windows 7 Professional 64bit.

Thank you. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Regarding this issue, please first try to disable the add-ins except BCM and restart Outlook to check if the issue still happen.

Then please also check this option in Outlook 2013 below:

FILE -> Options -> Advanced -> Developers -> Check if you have ticked "Show add-in user interface errors", switch it to the other status to check the result.

As you mentioned "All custom forms and fields in BCM no longer work as well rendering it basically useless." My understanding is that the existing forms don't work; if you create a new form, does it work?

Feel free to post back and let me know more about the issue, I will probably do more research on this topic as well.

I have somehow got it working without Outlook 2010 installed.

I uninstalled Outlook 2010 and then repaired Outlook 2013 and reconfigured Business Contact Manager.  It is now working without the Custom UI error and all custom forms are working.

I suppose some component of Outlook 2010 may have been left behind even after uninstalling.  It does seem like quite a lengthy process just to install BCM.  It appears I have to follow the following steps:

1. Install BCM and configure in Outlook 2013.
2. Install Outlook 2010 to fix BCM.
3. Uninstall Outlook 2010.
4. Repair Outlook 2013.
5. Reconnect BCM.

Are there any expected future upgrades to BCM?
