Bulk Swap of Primary and Secondary SMTP address in E2K3
We have about 2500 users with the following email addresses:
PRIMARY= nickname@ABC.com
Secondary= first.last@XYZ.com
We need to swap the addresses, ie make @XYZ.com the PRIMARY and @ABZ.com the Secondary.
It is a big org (40k+ users). We have instances of multiple Jane.Doe (for example) where the SMTP addresses will have been slightly modified to make them uniquie. ie they aren't all *pure* first.last - some might be first.mi.last.If we modify the Recipient Policies it seems like there would be no guarantee that policies would regenerate exactly the right addresses.
So we need to *SWAP* those addresses rather than regenerate them.
Is there a simple script / powershell / ldifde method that would let us do this easily in bulk?
Some users will also have more than 2 SMTP address - but there should be only one that is @XYZ.com. So we really need something that will zip through the all the users, look for the @XYZ.com address, and make it the PRIMARY.
(Org is mostly E2K3 with a a few E2K7 servers)
Many thanks,
Andrew.
