Broken Mailbox in Exchange 2003
Hello all, Ive recently moved our exchange server from one win2k3 server to another. Both are DC and all emails work except one. We moved all over, minus this one email box, in one day. The other mailbox we moved the next day. As i said, all email works but this mailbox. I have tried using the mail recovery centre and it supposedly connects the mailbox to the appropriate account. I have tried to reconnect directly on the mailbox, but it only looks on the previous server for connections. When accessing via webmail, I get logged in (no reply saying that login failed) but the url changes to the old server and tries to access mail there. Any suggestions on how i can re-link this mailbox on the appropriate server to the appropriate account?

Well an easy work around would be to exmerge the mailbox out to a .pst file, mail disable the user account, then mail enable it and import the PST.

Unfortunately ive tried that, it exports a .pst file of 50kb with no email in it. Secondly, I do see the emails waiting to go to this particular email address sitting in the queue on the non primary mail server. they are in the messages queued for deferred delivery queue, just sitting there. I am unable to force them out. when going to tools and using the mailbox recovery centre. i add the mailbox store where this particular mailbox is, and it supposedly reconnects it to the proper ad user. But will not allow email still. thanks for the suggestion, i wish it was that easy. (time to bang head on keyboard)

Are you getting any database inconsistency errors in either systems app log?

it appears it is trying to recreate the mailbox on the original server but cannot. Failed to create the mailbox of /o=Toreion/ou=First Administrative Group/cn=Recipients/cn=mdoner with error 0x50c this is happening non stop and looks to be a BIG issue.

Just happening for the one mailbox though right? Did the user try to open the mailbox during the move? http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=1205&eventno=2549&source=MSExchangeIS%20Mailbox%20Store&phase=1

ok, so I confirmed with the user, and they already have all of their email stored on their Outlook. So i deleted the mailbox, went to the AD user and created a new one, gave it an email address and it should be fine now. But i do not get an mailbox in the mailbox store. Any ideas. Your help has been valueable so far.

OK. soooo... i moved all the mailbox's back to the original server and it works fine now. We believe it to be an issue with dns and the ad.. not sure who or how it was setup, but doesnt look right. Any ways i do appreciate everyones help very much. Any ideas on how to recover the emails lost during hte down time? they dont seem to be sitting in a queue anywhere. Thanks.
