Bounced Large Attachment E-Mails - 552 4.3.1 Messages
I am troubleshooting a message delivery issue with Exchange 2003. I am not able to receive large attachments over 5MG - even through I have changed all the message limit areas in Exchange to accept a large message. (Global settings, System Policy, Individual mailbox, Individual message limit, Connector and Virtual SMTP Server.) I have an ISA 2006 server in front of the Exch server as well as a PIX firewall in front of the ISA server. I have checked both of those servers to see if they may be limiting the message size as well but cannot find any settings that would not allow those messages to be received. My question is, if the Exchange server is bouncing the message, would I be able to track the inbound message via the message tracking tool? Right now, I cannot find any record of a bounced message when I attempt to track it. If not, is there a log that I can look at to see what messages have been rejected due to size? I am trying to see if the message is even hitting the Exch Svr or if another piece of software is blocking the message size. Below is the NDR that I receive. This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.A message that you have sent could not be delivered to one or more recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed: <snewton@birite.com>: 552 4.3.1 Message size exceeds fixed maximum message size -- Scott

changed all the message limit areas in Exchange to accept a large messageCould you please tell how large you set in these configuration? Please be aware that, because of Content conversion, it may increase the message size by about 30%,thus if you want to receive 5M, you need to 6.5M limit. And please test whether you can send 5M internal mails, using MAPI or POP3/SMTP. Check the SMTP Logs. Second whatever file size you want to allow, add 30% for encoding overhead. So if you want to allow a 10MB file, set it to 13 or 14 to be safe. "mjolinor" wrote in message news:6c771271-51d9-4d63-8edd-4d78b0a5c011...Can you post the smtp headers from the NDR?
