Block sending to a domain name, with notification
One of the companies that we deal with has changed its email domain very slightly, i've sent this around but there seems to be people still sending it to the old domain name. Is there a way that the user will get an automated message explaining to send to the new domain if they attempt to send to this wrong domain name? Thanks!

I'd set up a "catch-all" mailbox with an OOF rule, and use a transport rule to re-direct all email to the domain to that mailbox. You can also use a server-side reply rule on the mailbox, but those aren't throttled, and can cause mail loops.[string](0..33|%{[char][int](46+("686552495351636652556262185355647068516270555358646562655775 0645570").substring(($_*2),2))})-replace " "

1. Not sure what exch server your using? If 2007/2010 then you could probably use transport rule to do this and check the recipient address and or message header for the old domain as a Predicate and then use the following action send rejection message to sender with enhanced status code 2. Ask the users to update their signature 3. Make sure the new domain is set as the primary SMTP address for all users.Sukh

If it's only for 1 user and the old domain is still active, i.e still stamped on the recipients mailbox (Email addresses), then why not just create a rule in Outlook. Configure a auto-reply using a rule using Outlook, this will apply to every message the mailbox receive. Create a rule with no condition when doing this It would be better if you did this on the gateway so you can manage situations such as email loops which can occur. .Sukh

The other companies old domain isn't active anymore, im thinking of purchasing GFI mail essentials, you can create a rule on there to re-route messages from a certain domain to another. Thanks
