Best way to auto forward mail
With Exchange 2007 and Outlook 2007, i'm trying to figure out how to set up some generic public folders (ideally since mulitple people will monitor this) that when a new message (ideally only ones with attachments but even if it did it for all messages,
that'd be fine) comes in, it forwards the message (without the FW: in the subject line) to an external email address with the From address being the email address associated with that public folder. then once the message is sent to the external address,
it moves the original message to a Sent subfolder of the public folder.
It seems that public folder mail rules are very limiting. I'm wondering if my only option is to setup a mailbox and use the Rules on that to do this, as i think that this can be done there quite easily. Any advice?

Thanks. If i make a contact that really just points to an external address, when that external address receives the email, what will they see as the address in the To field?
Like say joe@blow.com send an email to
pictures@place.com, where pictures is just a contact that sends to
RJOpics@hotmail.com. will RJOpics@hotmail.com see
joe@blow.com or
pictures@place.com as the sender of the email to him? I need it to be
pictures@place.com

Hi,
Well when joe@blow.com will send email to picture@place.com so on RJOpics@hotmail.com will see in from field joe@blow.com and in to field picture@place.com and there will be no user like RJOpics@hotmail.com in any filed.

What i need though, is if Joe send the email to pictures (which is pointing to RJOpics), I need when RJOpics gets the email it shows that it came from pictures, not Joe.
I think what you're saying means that it will NOT work like that, so your solution won't work for me.
do I understand correctly?

Hi,
There is no way to remove the FW: in the subject line. You can right click the Public Folder, select Properties, click Administration tab, click Folder Assistant button, set the rule, check forward, Method is Standard.
Thanks

Will that meet my other criteria too? I dont see an option to move it to a subfolder after its forwarded.
I dont know why Public Folders have limited rules compared to a mailbox, seems silly to me.

Hi,
To meet all the criteria, that is impossible for Public Folder. You need to create normal user mailbox to replace Public Folder to achieve the target.
