Best A/V protection for Exchange 2007? Thoughts?
Curious on everyones thoughts or suggestions on a good A/V protection package for 2007 server... Currently we are testing out GFI's mail security package (has 2 AV engines), there is also a 4 engine one... Thoughts on GFI? Ive also seen a version of Nod32 for Exchange as well.. any thoughts on it? We previously used Trend Micro SMB for Exchange, but it no longer works with 2007, not sure if it ever will. We also have an MSDN version of Forefront security.. but I didnt find it to be very effective, as once I installed GFI, things started being detected more so with it. We also have the Sonicwall 2040 series gateway, which does support AV protection on the unit.. i'm not sure if this can be used as an alternative to workstation and exchange server protection or not.. any thoughts on that? Thanks in advance

I've used Trends Scanmail for exchange on 07 and liked it as well as MS's forefront. I really think forefront is a great product (up to 5 engines), and its nice to be able to keep all the software on my prod exchange boxes from the same vendor.

Trend did say the next SMB messaging update would work with 2007 probably by september. I tried forefront.. didnt really see what was so good about it.. it was rather memory consuming compared to Trend or even GFI.. I also tried forefront antispam.. that was frankly, not very good, compared to our Sonicwall email security device which is wonderful. I thought maybe just doing the Gateway license for AV with our other sonicwall would be good enough for email protection, but it only protects inbound, not outbound i think.

I'm using ESET's NOD32 (on a Windows2003 r2 64bit / exchange 2007) a nice light weight package (the exchange version). It allows me to run as many or as little instances as I want. I had it set to 5 but the server chugged a bit so I reduced it to 2. The Emails are a little slower but the server makes less noise.
