Backup solution plan.
Dear all, I am designing networking infrastructure for branch offices, we have 18 branches inside riyadh and 24 branches outside riyadh, i am planning to install RODC in each branch office. Everything is designed except the backup plan. We have 1 mpbs line between headoffice and branch office, in head office we are using HP DATA PROTECTOR to take backup. We are running our exchange server 2007 in headoffice, wsus in HO, AV SERVER in HO, 2 RWDC in HO. We are planning to install RODC in branch offices and we will make it as a file server also. In each branch office there will be maximum 30-40 users. In headoffice we have 400 users. Soo what will be the best backup plan, we dont want to install a seperate server for taking backup in each branch office. In headoffice we have a storage server where all the backups are stored for headoffice.Manish Kumar MCSA, MCITP Enterise Admin. MCTS Exchange server 2007.

1. There is no mention of exch here, if you want to backup exch then you need to describe your exch env. Generally, it's nice to perform full backups/incremental. 2. If your backup plan is for general backups then you should post in the Windows Forum - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsbackup/threadsSukh

Yes, could you describe the exchange topology as Sukh mentioned? Quote: “We are planning to install RODC in branch offices and we will make it as a file server also … Soo what will be the best backup plan, we dont want to install a seperate server for taking backup in each branch office” As I know, all the data on RODC has been replicated from RWDC so that the data don't need to be backed up. As for the data of file server, you can store the place you want, local or remote share. But, I agree with Sukh, it would more relate to windows platform and you can get more useful information on windows server forum James Luo TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
