Backup ArcServe Exchange 2013 Document Level

We are in an hybrid environment of Exchange OnPremises and Exchange Online and in the OnPremises environment we have cohexistence of Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2013.

As a backup solution we have CA Arcserve Backup, that allow us to make a backup in document level of the exchange 2013 mailboxes.

We still cant do the backup document level. In the logs files from the ca agent installed in the server, we found some MAPI errors.

We followed all the articles bellow, but without success.

We had a remote support from CA and they told us that we are facing a problem on the Exchange Server.

We ran the Test-MapiConectivity that returns Success.

Below of the links, follow the logs, if someone could help-me to diagose the MAPI on Exchange 2013, I will be vary glad.

Hi Martins,

Based on my knowledge, it seems an issue on the CA ARCServer side, please try to contact CA Support for help.

How about using Windows Backup instead of CA?

Thanks

Does the Windows Server Backup do the Document Level Backup? If yes, I can try to replicate the problem on that.

CA Support pointed an error on a MAPI Query:

0x8004010F=MAPI_E_NOT_FOUND

They told me to look for microsoft support to solve this problem and then I can continue having the CA support on this case.

Hi Martins,

Thanks for your update.

To solve the error that you provided, please refer following KB:

The IMAPIProp::OpenProperty MAPI function returns a  MAPI_E_NOT_FOUND (0x8004010F) error

Thanks

Sorry, but there are other companies with same Solution, same Arcserve and Exchange versions and theyre working fine.

So, the article you mentioned is not the answer.

To verify, we made a new instalation of Arcserve Backup and same error occurs.

CA Support still insists in Exchange MAPI problem.

I will post for any progress, but if someone have any idea, I will be glad.

Different product, but here's a solution from another backup vendor.

http://documentation.commvault.com/hds/v10/article?p=products/exchange_mailbox/backup_troubleshooting.htm

Take a look at this, there's like 3 things it can be according to this.

Hi!

We are still working with CA Support...

We noticed an "inconsistency". CA Agent, when querying exchange database, its returning our CAS Array 2010 name.

We found in Echange 2013 mailbox databases that we are trying to backup, the RPCClientAccessServer attribute is pointing the the Exchange 2010 CAS Array.

I am trying to change, but Exchange 2013 Management Shell doesnt recognize this parameter RPCClientAccessServer and I didnt find this parameter using adsiedit.

Any Idea?

Hi! Updates.

We have succesfully removed our Exchange 2010 Servers and the problem persists.

I still see in the arcserve agent log, reference to the old Exchange 2010 cas array name.

We didnt remove Exchange 2010 CAS Arrays before removing the last server and now the Exchange doesnt recognize the remove-ClientAccessArray anymore.

When I Get-ClientAccessArray, it still brings me the Exchange 2010 CAS Array names and, if i create new database on Exchange 2013, it still brings me RpcClientAccessServer attribute with the old Exchange 2010 Cas Array Name.

I tried to clear legacyExchangeDN from this test database in ADSI Edit, but I got an error when I Get-MailboxDatabase

WARNING: An unexpected error has occurred and a Watson dump is being generated: exchangeLegacyDn

    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : System.ArgumentException,Microsoft.Exchange.Management.SystemConfigurat

Any Idea?

There is no RPC end point in exchange 2013.  They shouldn't be looking at that attribute.

some tools need the Outlook installed on server to work on this, have you tried to install Outlook on target server ?

Hi Guys!

Finally, after 7 months with an open case with Arcserve Support Team, they answered and confirmed they dont support hybrid configuration, even only backing up Onpremises mailboxes.

"Today Arcserve Backup does not support Microsoft Exhange Hybrid mode, or MS Exchange Onlin in the Office 365 in cloud."

Thankyou"
