BLOCK IPS
Hello, I use Exchange 2007 and some clients are blocked by our IP block list providers: - zen.spamhaus.org - bl.spamcop.net - dnsbl.sorbs.net I would like to know how to track the email and which of those 3 providers are blocking the mails. I usually do nslookup / set type=mx / "domain.com" and add the IPs on my IP allow list on both edge. However, it occurs that some clients are sort of using relay and/or go by gmail (the domain gmail is currently blacklisted in our company). So my second question would be to know how could I add a domain in my organization whitout taking any risk of getting spams? I mean if I whitselist the entire GMAIL.COM domain, would the mails still be scan by the Spam Confidence Level? What is the best way to receiev email from a domain and to only bypass the IP checked? Thanks a lot in advance for you help. Graig

From what I read, the anti-spam chain processes runs after the IP checked. Not sure though if the IP appear in the IP allow list or IP allow list provider that the anti-spam chain runs the processes... If the IP address does not appear on the IP Block lists of any one of the IP Block List providers, the next agent in the anti-spam chain processes the connection.

Hi, RBL databse is spreaded over WW and share common databse with each other. So if your clinet IP is blacklisted then it will be black list by other RBL provider. You can not by pass them to accept mail if you are using them. Best way is client should check RBL entry and whitelist them if they come under it.Anil MCC 2011,ITIL V3,MCSA 2003,MCTS 2010, My Blog : http://messagingschool.wordpress.com

Thanks Anil!! I only have 2 more questions: How do you add blacklisting services (eg if I wanna add the 4 BL services: Spamhaus (www.spamhaus.org), Spews(www.spews.org), DSBL (www.dsbl.org), MAPS (www.mail-abuse.org/rbl/)? And how do I know which of my three blacklisting services I currently have is blocking senders? (maybe only one is very harsh...) Many thanks, Graig
