Automatically Printing Data from a Disc

Hi,

We currently are the preferred vendor regarding recruitment at a large company. Anyone that applies for a position must upload their cv and attachments to the company's website and then it is downloaded onto a disc and sent to us for perusing and shortlisting. In some instances, we receive 1000's of applications for jobs, and we have to manually print each cv (comes in email format), as well as the attachments. Currently we employ someone to print each and every email and their attachments manually. If we try to highlight a group of emails and print it, it only prints the cover page and not the attachment. Can anyone suggest how we can select all the info on the disc and automatically print the coverpage and the attachments simultaneously.

Thanks

Earl

Hi,

As you posted this question in Outlook IT Pro Discussions forum, I'm not aware of how Outlook is involved in this scenario.

Would you please let me know how you performed the process of "highlight a group of emails and print it"? I need to know whether you performed it in Outlook, or in any other program (such as a printer program).

Hi Thomas,

What is the email message format, extension? Is it .eml , .msg or anything else

What are the types of attachments , doc, docx pdf etc?

This script would allow you to extract the attachement from the email message file.

Then you can select all and do a mass print.

Hi,

A disc is send to us with all the data in an email format. We open each record in outlook and then print the cover page and all attachments individually. This is very time consuming and frustrating if you receive 2000 applications.

Hi Earl,

I got your point, but I don't seem to be clear enough on the additional info required part. I need to know the extensions of the files on the Disc. (Email format is not enough, outlook supports various types)

Follow the below guide to find out the extensions.

Displaying the File Extension in Windows Vista and Windows 7
  1. Click the Start menu. ...
  2. Type "folder options" (without the quotes). ...
  3. A dialog box with the title "Folder Options" will appear. ...
  4. Click to uncheck the box for "Hide extensions for known file types".
  5. Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the dialog box.

Eg. image is DSC21023.jpg, I need to know the last 3 letters of the files on the disc after the dot.

Did you try out the script giving for extracting the attachments?
