Automatic Area Code

I am having an issue that I want to make sure that I am not missing something

In outlook 2010, when I add new contact, when entering the phone number i would enter XXX-XXXX and it would automatically add the area code so it would show up as (YYY)XXX-XXXX

But in Outlook 2013 it does not seem to do that anymore it just does XXX-XXXX

Is this a bug or by design. And if it is by design is there an option somewhere to enable it to automatically add the area code either by a setting in outlook or registry?

Some of the searches if found is to make sure that the telephony settings are correct which they are, as this is happening on a machine that previous had outlook 2010(office 2010) and it did it automatically and we upgraded to outlook 2013 (office 2013)

Thanks

Hi,

Based on my testing on several machines, Outlook 2013 doesn't automatically add area code. However, I can't be sure about if this is a bug or by design since I didn't find anything stating this.

As far as I know, if you dont travel outside your local area code, local numbers can be entered without the area code. In addition, I know there are some third-party add-ins can do this automatically, you may find one and have a try.

Thanks for your understanding and support.
