Autodiscover problem - Migrated 2010 (sbs2011) to 2013 (AD Member 2012 R2)

Hello, I am in the process of trying to migrate Exchange off of an SBS 2011 box onto a separate 2012 R2 Server Member running Exchange 2013.

Most parts worked ok, and started to move two test mailboxes, and then test the client (Outlook 2010) side.

Now, it was still trying to point to the old exchange server so I googled and ran this command in the exchange management console of the 2013 server:

set-clientaccessserver -identity 2013server -autodiscoverserviceinternaluri https://local.fqdn.co.uk/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml

and now, things don't seem to be working.

When I run outlook on a client, although it automatically enters the username and email address, it doesn't work, and when I manually add the server, I have to put the 2010server for the name check to work... but then when loading outlook, it says "cannot start Microsoft outlook. cannot open the outlook window. the set of folders cannot be opened. you must connect to Microsoft exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize your folders with your outlook data file (.ost)"

I have tried deleting the outlook profile, and doing different ways to gain client access, but no joy.

I think I need to re-set-clientaccessserver to what it might have been before I did this command, so any ideas greatly appreciated.

Hello djsky,

I am not quite sure about Now, it was still trying to point to the old exchange server. Do you mean point the Exchange 2013 users to use Exchange 2010 CAS?

The normal way is that Exchange 2013 users access the Exchange 2013 FE.

Thanks,

I raised a service ticket with Microsoft in the end who after three hours managed to sort it all out.

Cheers anyway.
