Autodiscover not updating profiles

Scenario:

Existing Exchange 2003 forest on DomainA - smtpdomain.com

New Exchange 2010 Forest (different forest and org) on DomainB - smtpdomain.com

Same email domain name

Migrating users as follows - prepare-moverequest.ps1 > ADMT > move-request (creates linked mailbox).

I can access the mailbox using OWA with DomainA credentials so the mailbox move has worked, however when i open the users mailbox in outlook the profile is not updated, they are using outlook 2007 SP1.

Is autodiscover meant to update the profile to point to the new server in this scenario? If i create a new profile it works ok using autordiscover. Ive set up outlook to use local autodiscover file (as i dont want all the computers using autodiscover just yet) ... the file is shown below... as I said, it works for new profiles, just doesnt switch over existing ones.

Where am i going wrong?

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<Autodiscover xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/autodiscover/responseschema/2006"><Response

xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/autodiscover/outlook/responseschema/2006a">
  <Account>
    <AccountType>email</AccountType>
    <Action>settings</Action>
      <Protocol>
        <Type>EXCH</Type>
        <Server>exchangeserver1.domainb.local</Server>
      </Protocol>
  </Account>
</Response></Autodiscover>

So we have users on domainA (source domain) using outlook 2007 and exchange 2003.

We have a new domain - domainB (target domain) using exchange 2010. (new exchange org in new forest)

We want to migrate the users mailboxes to exchange 2010 but keep them (for the moment) on their current PC and user account on domainA and using the same outlook profile.

So i migrate the mailbox to Exchange 2010, and the domainA account has permissions to the "linked" mailbox.

I thought that outlook 2007 should pick up the fact that the user has moved and update the outlook profile to point to the new server, but it doesnt, it just says "disconnected" at the bottom right hand corner of outlook. If i setup a new outlook profile it works fine and autodiscover creates the profile correctly, but i dont want to have to manually create profiles for everyone, I want outlook 2007 to detect the mailbox move, so my question is, why is it not detecting the mailbox move?

Hello,

Generally, the outlook profile may be corrupted. So you need to recreate your outlook profile.

Since there is no log, we hardly what caused the issue.

I have already tried that. I created new profiles for the user mailboxes (these are just test users with very little mail in their mailboxes) and they dont use autodiscover to switch over to the new mailbox.

Hello,

In order to troubleshooting the issue as soon as possible, please move a user's mailbox again to get some logs at your convenience.
