Autocorrect right-click in Word 2013

Dear Microsoft,

I understand that, for aesthetic purposes, you have removed right-click functionality for autocorrect.  However, many people (specialists in their fields, writers, etc.) have previously depended on this tool, though mostly for time efficiency purposes.  Given this and that those users generally know their way around office programs, would it be possible to return the right click functionality?  This would not be by default, per your design choice, but rather as an option the user can enable through the autocorrect option.  This way, both parties are satisfied.

Sincerely,

An SF/fantasy writer way too dependent on autocorrect

Hi Matthew,

Thanks for the kind suggestion, although our product team is already aware of this issue, I passed this information to them again to let them know this is still a pain point. Unfortunately, I haven't heard any plan to changing it so far, since this feature was removed on purpose as a low use feature to clean up the interface - yes "we" know "low use" is debatable.

The workaround for those that need it is to either add it to the QAT or hover over the word and click AutoCorrect Options when the SmartTag icon appears. Neither exactly duplicates the older behavior but it gets them closer.

Please make the request again.  It was one of the more valuable tools in Word.

This epitomises all that is wrong with Microsoft. Any brief trawl of the internet will reveal depths of irritation and anger from users - people who pay a great of money for the software and no doubt have for years and years. Even if the original idea was well-meaning - an attempt to dumb-down the software perhaps - the response ought to have been enough to cause a quick reconsideration. The practical effect has been to push me into weaning myself off Microsoft and I am already well into experimenting with Google, Apple and other alternatives. Like many others I use loads of technical terms in my writing and the feature was extremely useful. You've literally stolen hours of my time and the only reason I have invested so much time and money on MS products up to now is to save it . . . I really can't believe the perceived simplification could not have been reconciled with preserving the facility for those who need it. The first time in history software has gone sharply backwards?

It is very obvious that Microsoft does not care what the masses think.  I will forgo upgrading my other two computers with 2013 until this issue is resolved. It may not kill Microsoft but that is two licenses they will not be selling in the near future.

Thanks Matthew for taking the initiative.

I am sure many of the user have depended on the use of the autocorrect tab to quicken the spelling correction of frequently misspelled words and I hope that you will eventually get them to at least include an option to choose if the tab is there or not.

I totally agree with all those who ask the feature to be back, but I wanted to know how the heck MS is deciding what is low use or not ? Do they ask only us people ? Like others have said, In other languages, this feature is used very often, also as quick editing tool ( I'm not English speaking) when I put abbreviations that autocorrect in full sentences.... It's not the first time that MS "knows better" than the user.

Dear Microsoft,

Another update passed, and another failure to include this feature that many want to have. This is an issue that has been requested for months by users, but still has not been added in. We all understand that the autocorrect feature can be manually inputed, but none of us have the time to actually do that. We NEED the simple right click feature. PLEASE UPDATE!

Max-

Sorry you have to bear the brunt of this, but:

t's been over  a year later and this option still hasn't been corrected. I don't know what morons they used as a test group, but this was one of the worst decisions (out of many) that Microsoft has made. I hate hate hate the fact we can't right-click. It was one of the easiest, most simple, MOST USED shortcuts.

The only reason I use this software is because I HAVE to, to because I WANT to.

Awful, just plain

Matthew - check this post out, then buy Greg Maxey a coffee like I did. Works a charm.

Removing the Right-click autocorrect feature is a truly awful decision.

Every time I write - dozens of times during the day - not having the autocorrect menu feature irritates me. Similar to another commenter, not having this option causes me lots of additional time lost over the week.
