Auto-reply server-based rule message sent as plain text not HTML
I'm using Exchange 2007 and am trying to setup an auto-reply, server-based rule for a particular mailbox. Everything is actually working great - except for one small thing. I've created the auto-reply message in HTML format (the auto-reply contains several hyperlinks). I've saved it in HTML format via the Outlook 2010 server-based rules wizard and everything looks good. However, when the sender receives the auto-reply, the message is formatted as plain-text and not HTML. This causes the hyperlinks to look a bit strange - you see all the nitty-gritty details instead of the nice 'click here' link. I've tried testing from various clients - Outlook 2010, Gmail, Mac Mail, etc. All show the auto-reply message as being formatted plain-text. Is it possible for Exchange 2007 to send this out as HTML-formatted text, or am I stuck?- Mark

Hi, If you create the auto reply from OWA it should work. Leif

Hi Mark, How did you create the "server-based rule for a particular mailbox"? Manage Rules & Alerts->New Rule->Apply rule on message I receive-> from people or public group->next->have server reply using a specific message Or via Automatic Replies(Out of Office)? Please also check whether both internal and external sender will receive plain-text message. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

How did you create the "server-based rule for a particular mailbox"? Manage Rules & Alerts->New Rule->Apply rule on message I receive-> from people or public group->next->have server reply using a specific message I used 'Manage Rules & Alerts - Have server reply using a specific message' - not Out of Office. We're sending out an informational message to any message received in a particular mailbox. When I click on the the link to enter the message via the Rule wizard, I've verified that HTML format is enabled. However, then message is received, it is formatted as plain-text. I've tested it on my own PC using Outlook 2010. I am definitely not set to read messages as 'Plain-Text only'. However, just for grins, I've tested on other clients as well, and they're seeing the same thing. - Mark
