Auto-Complete Cache

Have a client with Office 2013 Home and Small Business. The Auto-Complete is not working and has not worked since 417/2015. Check the file size and it is at 967KB. Through the Options>Mail>Empty Auto-Complete list button checked delete entries.  Did not work. So did from the Run Command - outlook.exe /cleanautocompletecache still not working. So renamed the Stream_Autocomplete_0xxxxxxxx.dat file to Stream_Autocomplete_0xxxxxxxx.dat.old rebooted computer - hoping that the file would recreate.  But it did not and the condition is the same.  Question - is it safe to delete this one file in the RoamCache folder?  Or do I delete the whole Roamcache folder?  Does the PST and settings for the mailbox need to be backed up before doing so?  Do I need to uninstall and reinstall Outlook 2013?  Is there another fix for this??  There is no previous version of Outlook so the *.NK2 file cannot be imported into Outlook 2013.  Please Advise - thanks!

Hi,

What type of email account are you using?

We need to rename or delete the whole RoamCache folder to reset AutoComplete. It's safe to do this. If you are concerned about data loss, you can just rename the RoamCache folder to old_RoamCache.

In addition, there is a little difference if you are using an Exchange account. We need to turn off Cached Exchange mode before renaming the folder. See the following KB article and look at the "If you have a Microsoft Exchange Server account" section:

Please have a try and let me know the result.

Thanks for the update, Clair Dohn. Have you got any opportunity to try renaming or deleting the whole RoamCache folder? If so, please let me know the result.
