SCO should be capable of using ESMTP and using AUTH. All you need to
do is provide the admin with an AD account to use.

Try this one, first:
http://www.petri.co.il/authenticated-or-anonymous-smtp-relay-with-exchange-2007.htm
These instruct you to set up the connector with "Externally secured"
permission, which I find to be too much permission:

Create a new Receive Connector and add the IP address of the SCO
server (or any other server) to the remote IP address range. Then
configure that connector to allow anonymous relay.

If the server cannot authenticate then you are going to have to turn off authentication control on the groups and either use group membership combined with a email address for the server to be listed on the Accept emails from, or possibly transport
rules.

Hi
We have an internal SCO unix server that sends emails internally and externally via our exchange 2007 SMTP connector.
The problem is , that we have locked down our distribution groups (requires authentication), to only accept internal emails, however when the SCO unix server sends an email to an internal distribution
group, the email bounces.
#550 5.7.1 RESOLVER.RST.AuthRequired; authentication required ##
How can I allow the exchange server to accept emails addressed to internal distribution groups sent from the SCO unix server, as this server cannot authenticate with AD?
Thanks

Hi Rich
Created a new receive connector, restarted the MS Transport service , and then tested a few hrs later. Same NDR is being generated. Are the settings correct? What else do i need to do? thanks

Hi
Thanks for your reply
i have checked with the guys that administer this SCO server, and they advised the following;
With your current implementation it is not possible
to provide the required authentication information.
Is there a way on Windows SBS to allow this server allow specific servers on LAN that cannot authenticate to send emails to internal distribution groups?
I.e. can the server be added to AD as a computer, so that it is somehow authenticated on the domain?
if so please advise steps. thanks
