Hi, Try this: 1. Open EMC 2. Server Configuration --> Client Access 3. Select Outlook Web Access tab and right click on OWA (default web site) and select properties 4. Select Public Computer File Access tab>Direct File Access Settings>Customize 5. Allow-> Add ".Xls" in allow list Regards from www.windowsadmin.info

Hi, I have already done this exercise of adding .xls, .xlsx and .xml extensions where the Excel file is carrying XML based content in our case. Apart from that, I have added the following key as well in web.config file under OWA folder....Even after tried with removing from Allow List and added in Force Save list..still, the file opens up with blank page. Please remember that our .xls file contains XML data content. <add key = "BypassOwaXmlAttachmentFiltering" value="true" /> Thanks

Hi, I am suspecting that the roll up is not installed correctly. Could you please un install and reinstall or check for any latest roll up. Additionaly please check whether the roll up includes fix for the particular issue. Also you may contact Microsoft for additional clarifications. Regards from www.windowsadmin.info

Hi, Roll up2 of Exchange 2007 SP3 installed successfully. No hopes...rollup 6 of SP2 contained the fix of .xls attachment with XML based content. However, we went to SP3 directly from SP1 and applied Rollup2 of SP3 as well recently. In touch with MS-tech support...let us hope to get some workaround. Regards

Hi, As per my research, I think it is a known issue. And you can try to send email with attachment by the following two ways. · Just use .htm or .html extension to deliver the email. · Zip the file before sending out. Hope this helps. Hi Serena, True, we too were aware of this only available solution/workaround.... KB 950675 and KB 979046- these fixes that add “BypassOwaXmlAttachmentFiltering” and “BypassOWAhtmlAttachmentFiiltering” in web.config actually only give an ability to choose whether disabling XML/HTML sniffing for Level 2 attachments. For Level 1 attachment, it still will be blocked. Thanks

Serena, We were were expecting that the most recent update with SP3RU2 was going to finally get us past this, but I understand that level1 filtering which we can not configure is in effect trumping the fix. We have a customer feeding us auto-generated HTML info with an .xls extension, so having them change their format or zip it before it is sent is not an option. Is there some timeline on when there may see a follow-on attempt to fix this issue? Thanks in advance!! Rich Van Baalen
