Attachments Stripped when sending from Outlook
I have a very strange situation resulting in all sent attachments being stripped from e-mails with no indication as to why. This randomly started for my client this morning with NO Changes to the server whatsoever. Here is the run down. ANY attachment sent from Outlook is received by the recipient (I have used gmail, GMX, and yahoo e-mail accounts as tests) without the attachment. It appears all attachments on e-mails sent from outlook are STRIPPED. Sending the exact same attachment from OWA works with no issue whatsoever. After doing a lot of research looking for someone else with the problem, it looks like anti-virus is often a culprit, however, I have completely removed ESET Mail Security from the server AND the client with absolutely no change. This is across MULTIPLE users and all started at the same time, so it does not lead me to a single outlook client issue. Running outlook in Safe Mode has the same results. The attempted attached e-mails will show with the attachment in the Outlook sent folder, until a restart of Outlook. The attempted sent e-mails show NO attachment when opened in OWA. I have tested this with several types of attachments, .doc, .pdf, .jpg, .xls, etc. There are no size restrictions on the exchange server, and the issue occurs with very small attachments. Use Cached Exchange mode is enabled on the Outlook clients. The issue occurs in both Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2003. Exchange Version: 6.5.7638.1 I have had reports that some attachments have been known to come through, but all of my personal tests (at least 20) have resulted in no received attachment. The problem also occurs with internal messages as well. PLEASE HELP! I'M STUMPED! Alex

Are you passing your e-mail through any antivirus, antispam or any other hygiene software, appliance, server or service? Generally it is those which cause this kind of problem.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

Hi, Please restart exchange server and client machine after uninstall ESET Mail Security. If the issue persists, please try to create a new mailbox database and move a user's mailbox to this new database. Then test to see if the problem is caused by the corrupted mailbox database.
