Hello,Public Folder Hirarchies in Exchange server 2003 are integrated with WMI and IIS permissions. I would recommend you checking for Permission on Public and ExAdmin virtual diretctories in IIS.Public >> Properties >> Directory Security >> Authentication and Access Control >> Edit >> 1. Basic Authentication 2. Windows Integrated Authentication.ExAdmin >> Properties >> Directory Security >> Authentication and Access Control >> Edit >> Windows Integrated Authentication.Let us know how it goes.M-Milind Naphade

Rabbani,If those permissions are good then I can think of the permissions on PF hirarchy itself. Use of pfdavadmin.exe and dsacls.exe to check what is missing on PF store and Hirarchy would be a good idea. Another tool that is very much helpful is ExBPA. Run the ExBPA to see if there are any permissions descrepencies in AD (permissions on store).-Milind Naphade

Hi,This is not a problem with Public folder and also nothing to do with permission. And I believe that some setting is missing in IIS.Please Open IIS, right click the Default Web Site, click Properties, in the Web Site tab, check whether "Enable HTTP Keep-Alives" has been checked. If not, please check it.After that, please restart IIS, then check this issue.ThanksAllen

Hello Allen,Can you please help me understanding the authentication mechanism that a public folder hirarchy would use when an administrator tries to explore through it using Exchange System Manager? Thanks in advance for any help?M-Milind Naphade

In adsiedit first verify if your PF tree is a MAPI PF tree and not ageneral purpose tree.1. From your Exchange server or Domain Controller, go to Start, Run,ADSIEDIT.MSC Click Ok. (ADSIEDIT is part of your Windows 2000\2003Support Tools found on the CD)Expand the Configuration Container.CN=ServicesCN=Microsoft ExchangeCN=Your Exchange OrgCN=Administrative GroupCN=First Administrative GroupHighlight CN=Folder Hierarchies. On the right pane, highlight CN=Public Folders and select properties.Scroll down to find the attribute, msExchPFTreeType. For the value, check if it is set. If not set, set to 1.Second verify that your PF store is associated to this tree. This time search for the attribute msexchowningpftreebl and doubleclick it. Do you see the DN of the PF store of your server? Also do yousee any servers\stores that do not exist or are unmounted?============================================= 1. What happens if the user having mailbox on concerned server accesses PF from outlook or OWA. 2. Are both exchange servers within the same active directory sites and how many global catalogue servers does the environment have. 3. Also, what happens if you install only exchange management tools on a client machine (Win XP Sp2). Does the same issue occurs if you try to access PF from ESM installed on this client machine. 4. Also, instead of accessing PF under the Public Folder Tree i.e. Folders\Public Folders, what happens if you access the PF by drilling down ESM into Administrative Groups\First Administrative Groups\Servers\concerned server\First Storage Group\Public Folder Store 5. Are you using the same domain account that was used to install exchange application on the box. Were there any modifications made on this account with regard to rename or permissions.
