Archiving or ??? old accounts/emails
Helping someone who uses SBS and Exchange 2003 They have several dormant accounts they'd like to save 'out of system'. Is this as simple as exporting to a .pst file or something? Once done, can it be retriveed even if the user has been deleted from the system? other/better ways? thanks!

If you mean exporting the contents of mailboxes to a pst, then use exmerge to accomplish that: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=429163ec-dcdf-47dc-96da-1c12d67327d5&displaylang=en http://support.microsoft.com/kb/292509 How to configure an account to use the ExMerge utility in Exchange 2000 Server and in Exchange Server 2003

Thanks for the reply Andy. What I'm after is a way (even 3rd-party app) that will allow an Exchange account to be archived and then retrieved later by different employee (mgmt). This will be used for old accounts where the original employee has left the firm, but management wants to be able to pull up their email. And this after they've deleted the AD/Echange account(s). I see how the tool you sent previously could merge the mailboxes, but that's not what they're interested in. thanks

Exmerge will export to a pst however ( archived if you will). This will allow anyone to access the contents later of course either buy opening the pst via Outlook or importing into an existing mailbox. Is that what you are looking for?

At a minimum that will work, but I was looking for something that's more on the fly. Is there a third-party product that would do that? appreciate your responses
