Archive and delete Exchange Messages/Calendar data etc.
We recently took over a large non-profit organization's Exchange mail management and have found HUGE bloat in their mail store. The organization has data stored in the mail store going back to 2000. There are over 200 users, spread across 12 locations throughout Ontario, Canada. We have established a policy whereby all data prior to December 31, 2006 will be archived to external removable media, then deleted from the mail store. We can archive the data easily by date using Exmerge to export the data to PST files, however how do we then delete the outdated data from the store??We do not want users to use Outlook's Archive functions as this has caused havoc in the past, and don't really want to have to logon to 200 plus mailboxes individually and manually do this ourselves as administrators.I've searched for Microsoft utilities, and found archivesink, however am not sure this will delete the messages and clean up our grossly oversized mail store.Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Mike Hedleyhelpdesk@operationspringboard.on.ca

exmerge will do this for you as well....on the 'Source Server' window under options on the 'Import Procedure' tab you can select 'Acrive data to target store'....so as yu are creating your PST files to archive you can delete the data at the same time...but I'd run it as 2 seperate tasks...archive, then go back and delete. you also have 'mailbox manager' in ESM, but it's not as granular..http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278024/
