Applying License to Exchange 2010
I am using the 120 trial version of Exchange 2010. After about 65 days, I have it running pretty good and would like to apply my license and cals. I have 5 cals and 10 mailboxes set up right now. What happens when I try to apply those licenses, will stuff stop working. I assume that it will take a couple of days to get 5 more cals, and I don't want my users to be down during that time.

You dont need to apply the CALs to the server, only the product key. Users wont be cutoff regardless.

Hi, Yes, only Exchange Product key. You do not required to enter user CAL license, and there is no interface for you to input. You just need to file the CAL documentations. You will need show the CAL documentations when your organization is audited for software license compliance To enter the Exchange product key, please refer the following steps: In the console tree, navigate to Server Configuration. 2. In the action pane, click Enter Product Key Group. 3. On the Enter Product Key page, enter the product key, and then click Enter. 4. On the Completion page, review the following, and then click Finish to close the wizard: A status of Completed indicates that the wizard completed the task successfully. A status of Failed indicates that the task wasn't completed. If the task fails, review the summary for an explanation, and then click Back to make any configuration changes. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread. Thanks Gen Lin-MSFT
