An interesting exchange 2003 setup problem
We have a windows 2000 with exchange 5.5. however we cant migrate 5.5 > ex 2003. ( lots of problems occurred. solved lots of but some problems could not be solved.) so we decided to setup a new ex 2003. We unplugged the 5.5 and built a new windows server 2003, added to exist domain and migrate to active directory. When we try to setup ex 2003, the setup searches the old 5.5 and stopped. I think we should remove old 5.5 records from active directory. ( In new 2003 server, we deleted ex 5.5 computer account. and demoted from domain. ) I think we need some help :) Thank you for any help.

5.5 to exchange 2003 migration was never a straight forward affair. I will recommend to go for a support call with PSS.Instead of playing with AD attributes and schema in existing AD and 5.5 , log a ticket (not sure if PSS will support 5.5 migration).Raj

Thanks for help, I have a scenario in my mind. If I install a exchange 2003 on a windows server 2003 with additional installation, than I unplug exchange 5.5 from my network, Can I go with my new exchange 2003? I have already tried exist migration docs but I get some errors. I spend lots of time and as you know that time is money... Thanks for help. Levent.

Then in that case i will recommend Microsoft support (as per my first post ) or you can try inter org migration but even that will be complicated.Raj
