Ampersand and HTML

Hi,

We are using Constant Contact to make mailings. Our Business name has an Ampersand in it.

When the Ampersand is received by an Outlook 2010 client, it is adding an additional semicolon ; to it, so it looks like 'Bob &; Franks company'.  This extra semi colon does not show up when opening this in other mail clients.

Looking at the source code, Constant Contact is doing as it should and sending this as the HTML code & but when looking at the source code as it arrives in outlook, it appears as &;.  I would like to find a way to tell outlook to stop adding the extra semicolon. Is there anything that can be adjusted to fix this?

Converting to plain text and/or rich text would not be the solution we are looking for.

Hi,

I don't have Constant Contact here to test this issue, but I don't have this issue if when my Outlook receives emails.

What type of account do you use in Outlook? Exchange, IMAP or POP3?

If you go to the webmail(OWA) to receive the email, does this issue persist?

Since this issue is only on Outlook Client, try to run Outlook in Safe Mode, to test if it's 3rd-party add-ins related:

Press Win + R and type outlook.exe /safe in the blank box, then press Enter.

If theres no problem receiving emails in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.

Yes

I did this, and the problem persists.

At the time of this post, I ran some more tests on this. The email, as it is handled by Outlook gets an additional semicolon inserted. the same email sent to my Comcast address does not have it. If I forward the same email from Comcast to our office email, the semicolon is not inserted.

Not sure if that helps.

Did you ever find a solution to this?  We are using also using Constant Contact and have the same issue.

Thanks,
