Alternative solutions to O365 SMTP ?
Not sure if this is the right place to post this but we are looking for an on-premise alternative solution to the O365 SMTP service which allows for more customizations and granulaity.  Anyone got any recommendations on 3rd party products ?

There 1001 SMTP software/appliance out there in the market. It really depends on what customization you need.

Since you post here, I would recommend Exchange 2013 edge transport server as a start.

Looking at an internal SMTP service to enhance the O365 one.  Some of the things we are looking for are reporting on volume of mail in a usable format (access to logging), blocking by IP, hostnames or IP ranges, configuring the max size of messages accepted, controlling the rate of relayed emails with throttling.  Sure there are others but this for starters.
