Allow forms that bypass Outlook - what does this do?

In Outlook 2010 > File > Options > Advanced > Developer > Custom forms there is a checkbox that indicates "Allow forms that bypass Outlook.

If you select this checkbox, what does it actually allow to happen?

Hi Laura,

Based on my research, the Allow forms that bypass Outlook option controls whether older MAPI forms built with C++, rather than the Outlook form designer, are allowed to run. By default, Outlook 2010 does not open MAPI forms that were created by using C++, this option will enable it.
