All inbound mail stuck in Submission Queue with a delivery type of Unknown and error A Local Loop was Detected

My email organization consists of two email servers: Exchange 2013, Oracle Messaging. The servers are in two different geographic locations.

The Oracle messaging is the primary email server (orc1.MyDomain.com)

The Exchange server (loc2-ex.MyDom2.local)

A routing rule on the Oracle messaging server forwards MyDom2 user email (changes the email address from @MyDomain.com to @loc2.MyDomain.com) to the remote Exchange server.

On the Exchange server, the domain MyDomain.com is set for internal relay. MyDom2.local and loc2.MyDomain.com are set at Authoritative.

Users on the Exchange server can send Internet bound email that is delivery as expected to outside domains. Email between exchange users and inbound internet email gets delivered to the Exchange server but is not posted to the user's email. Instead it remains in "Submission queue" (delivery type "undefined", status "ready") Each message's last error is "A local loop was detected" (SCL "-1", Queue ID "Loc2-EX\Submission", Message Source Name "SMTP: Client ProxyLoc2-EX")

How do I get Exchange to deliver emails?

Hi ,

Thanks a lot for sharing the accepted domains list .

A Local Loop was Detected means we don't have the proper route for destination domain or else the destination recipient is not available on the exchange system.

Please share me the below mentioned information .

1.Go to exchange toolbox --->queue viewer--->right click the looping message --->properties ---->share me the information on the general TAB.

Hi ,

So the problematic domain is "MyDomain.com" and it is kept as internal relay in exchange .

Tell me one thing where the recipient mailbox "TestUser@MyDomain.com" is residing ? I mean is it on exchange or else on oracle messaging server?

Please run the below mentioned command on exchange and share me the results for the problematic user .

The TestUser@MyDomain.com resides on both email servers. The Oracle messaging server is Internet facing. The Exchange server is not visible to the Internet. Email for TestUser@MyDomain.com received by the Oracle messaging server is forwarded to the Exchange server (The email address is altered to TestUser@loc2.MyDomain.com). On the Exchange server, TestUser has three email addresses: TestUser@MyDomain.com (reply address), TestUser@Loc2.MyDomain.com, and TestUser@MyDom2.local

Hi,

From your description, I recommend you check if all the services Exchange server needed are running normally, especially the Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Transport service. If no, you need to start these transport services and check the result.
