Age Breakdown of Messages in the Store?
Hi,I'm getting ready for an Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 transition. As part of the E2K7 implementation, I'm going to be putting in an email archive solution. However, I need to know how much storage will be needed for the archive store so we can purchase the proper amount of disks. Is there a tool that'll scan the Exchange 2003 stores and give me a breakdown of the messages in the stores based on age, i.e., X% of the store is 3 years old, Y% is 2 years, Z% is 1 year, etc? Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Hi, So far as I know, there is no such a tool. You could write a post on our development forum to see if someone can help: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrdevelopment/threads/ You want to archive the store according age, why not use exmerge to export the data directly. You can choose date range in the tool. 1)Download Exmerge Tool from below link:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=429163ec-dcdf-47dc-96da-1c12d67327d5&displaylang=en 2) Extract the Exmerge.EXE to a folder, copy the exchmem.dll from (Exchsrvr\bin) to the folder.3) Run Exmerge.exe Regarding the storage requirement of Exchange 2007, there is a very powerful tool Exchange 2007 Mailbox Server Role Storage Requirements Calculator in our Exchange Team blog. http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2007/01/15/432207.aspx All you need to do is type your settings in the sheet, it will give you a very detail result. Hope this helps. Thanks, Elvis
