After moving Mailbox, Exchange EDB will free up the logical space or not immediately? (An Exchange fundamental question)
System: Exchange Server 2007 SP2 (CCR)Mailbox deletion retention: 14 daysMail item deletion retention: 120 days One of my Storage Group Harddisk partition is running out of disk space soon (10GB left). I would like to relocate some mailboxes from SG1 to SG2 for free up some logical space in SG1. I would like to know if I moved out some of the mailboxes from SG1 to SG2, the logical space will be free up or not immediately after running Exchange Online Maintenance task? Or the logical space will be free up after Mailbox deletion retention period?Cheers, Victor Tong (Blog: http://www.0101news.com) MCSE,MCTS,MCITP

More information: "As space in the database is freed by deletion of items, existing pages are reused where possible. Typically, a Microsoft Exchange Server database will grow for several months after it is placed in service, but eventually the database size stabilizes" http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997972(EXCHG.80).aspx If you want to reduce the size of database, please run the Eseutil /D.Frank Wang
