After installing office 2010, *.tsv can't be opened directly

Dear all,

In before, the user uses office 2007 and her excel can open *.tsv files directly.

But after uninstall office 07 and local IT installed office 2010 the *.tsv files can't be opened directly.

And now user must open excel2010 firstly then drag the tsv file into the excel then the opening can work.

And I tried to fix it by doing setting from control panel and set excel to the defult programe for .tsv file but it still can't work.

Any advice for the issue will be appreciated.

Thanks in d

Hi,

This issue might be caused by the file association registry was still pointing at the location of Excel 2007. Please check this key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\EXCEL.EXE\shell\open\command

Changing this to point at the location of Excel 2010. Then, re-set the Excel 2010 as the default program for .tsv file.

Hope it's helpful.

Hi George,

Thank you for your advice.

But for " Changing this to point at the location of Excel 2010", does it mean C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE or C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Microsoft Office\Microsoft Excel 2010?

And I will try it later for the issue and show reply to you.

Hi,

Please try to point to installation location, like C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE.

Does the method work for you?

Hi George,

It can't work due to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\EXCEL.EXE\ can't be found in her registry.

Is there any other method?

Hello Franklin;

I was had the same issue before, resolved by Right Click on the .TSV file and Choose Excel as a default program.
