I would check the Exchange services are not running under that account, but are instead running under Local System. If they are set to run under a specific account, change it to Local System and then restart the services. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources

Hi Simon They are running under Local System, and I still experience the same problem. Regards

Something on the server is dependant on the administrator account. Could be a third party tool. Exchange shouldn't care. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources

Ok, but exchange is the only thing that is not working correctly when changing the administrator password. Regards

Ok, but exchange is the only thing that is not working correctly when changing the administrator password. Its not unusual for a third party to put a dependancy on their own services on Exchange (so Exchange doesn't start unless the third party service is running) and for that third party service to be using the administrator account in some way. AV, Antispam are classic examples of this. Exchange, if configured correctly doesn't care. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources

I would check to make sure if AV software is causing problems, maybe some sort of blockage on the server causing mail not to flow which is depending on existing Administrator account and password. Did you check windows logs and noticed anything in red in application logs once you set the administrator password to something new? Post some of them here for us to take a look please Cheers, oz caseyOz Casey, Dedeal, Microsoft MVP - Exchange Server, MCITP (EMA), MCITP (EA), MCITP (SA) http://smtp25.blogspot.com,(Blog) http://telnet25.wordpress.com(Blog) This posting is provided AS-IS with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights.

Try creating an Exchange admin/enterprise admin account and log-in to Exchange using that account and post the result.
