Adding two users to a query based distribution group
Exchange 2003 on Windows Server 2003 I have a query based Distribution Group that filters to a specific OU with users accounts in it. So email sent to that group (warehouse mail group) will include everyone in the OU. I have two additional users that are in another OU that need to receive emails sent to that group as well, but that's where the problem comes in. Since they're not part of that OU they wont receive the email, being a query based group. I tried to add the two email accounts if I customize the filter in the query based group but it doesnt work, the preview tab is blank. How can I add these two users accounts to the group so they can receive the emails as well?

you can raise the level of where the DL is pointed (higher OU level) and use the Customize filter to search for a particular entry in a field like Custom attribute 1 (or one of several other options). Then for those users meeting that criteria they will be added to the DL. It is working as it's intended at the OU level down, You can't add to that manually. Hope this helps.

yeah, I've tried that a hundred times as well. I've pointed to a higher OU and customized the filtered to add those 2 additional email addresses but when I do that the preview tab goes blank, indicating that something went wrong. Very frustrating.

Create a regular DL. Add the two users to it. Then add the DDL to the DL. Now send your e-mail to the DL instead of the DDL. You can rename the groups and fiddle with the proxy addresses to keep things looking the same as they did before. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
