Adding Lync 2013 to an existing Installation of Office Pro 2013

Due to problems experienced installing Lync 2013 as a standalone package on machines that already had Office Pro. 2013 installed.

We're trying to use the method mentioned in this article

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179141%28v=office.15%29.aspx. msiexec.exe /p \\server\share\custom.msp

However when we run the msp created using the OCT.  An error pops up 'The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000417) occured in the application at location 0x709db362.  Click on OK to terminate the program'.

Lync 2013 does installed correctly into the existing Office Pro. 2013 install.

How can I prevent/fix the error so that it doesn't occur?

Hi,

"Due to problems experienced installing Lync 2013 as a standalone package on machines that already had Office Pro. 2013 installed."

Based on my knowledge, it can work well with both installed, would you please let me know what the symptom was? Like some error messages or code.

You also mentioned that you tried to install the Lync using OCT, may I know more details about it? How did you perform it?

And I need to double confirm if you have installed it correctly. Since you mentioned "Lync 2013 does installed correctly into the existing Office Pro. 2013 install."

Standalone install please refer to this thread "https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/ea518ae9-558e-4d6d-89ad-a27c6d6de045/skype-for-business-icons-missing?forum=ocsclients#e35426cd-677d-4830-898c-180522e8468d"

We've installed Office 2013 on our existing fleet using setup.exe /admin.  Configuring such things as word, access, excel components etc..

After looking at the above thread I decided to use the same method to create a new .MSP but simply install Lync 2013.  When running this MSP using msiexec.exe /p lync_install.msp I receive the error in my first thread.  However when you close that dialog Lync 2013 installs correctly and is available to use and can be seen as part of the Office Pro 2013 installation.
