Adding 64 bit server to 32 bit tree
Hi, We are trying to install an new storage server into an existing tree, I also want to make it a domain controller since it is a more powerful machine than most of our existing servers. So trying to intall AD to it, it says I need to run ADPREP, but I can't run it on this server since it is not a domain controller. And I cannot run the EXE on an existing server because they are 32 bit servers and ADPREP with this distribution is a 64bit program. I have run the adprep that is on the existing servers and it says the AD is fully up to date. Can I get a copy of ADPREP from somewhere that will run on a 32 bit machine and prep AD for a new 2003 64 bit storage server to be added to the domain? Thanks very much Chris

Sure-- you can download the 32-bit *evaluation-only* version of Exchange 2007 from the Microsoft Exchange 2007 downloads page (<http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/exchange/2007/downloads/beta.mspx?wt.mc_ID=PreviewHero>). Get the "x86" installer files for your language, then install away.

This doesn't have ADPrep in the packedfile to run on it's own andourdomain controller already has a full copy of exchange on it.I dont reallywant to replace it with a Beta Eval.

If the x64 server is in the domain then if you run "Setup.com /PrepareAD /DomainController:FQDNofDC" then surely you don't need a 64 bit version of ADPREP? Apologies if I've missed something and just stated the bleeding obvious! Charles

Not exactly "bleeding obvious", since you are supposed to run adprep BEFORE you join the 64 bit 2003 machine to the domain....
