Added Second Exchange 2003 Server - Outlook will not connect
I currently run an Exchange 2003 server on Windows 2000 Server. I also have a remote office that runs their own Exchange 2000 server that is in the same Administrative Group. Email works fine between them. I just installed another Exchange 2003 server on Windows 2003 Server with plans to migrate users to it and eventually remove the original Exchange 2003 server. I went through the Exchange setup without any issues. Reading several posts here, there shouldn't be any special things necessary for setting up a second server. I moved my own mailbox to the new server with no problems. The problem happens when I try to launch Outlook to connect to the new server. It refuses to access it, always telling me that Exchange is unavailable. No matter if I specify the IP address or server name, even creating an entirely new profile in Outlook. Have the same issue on another computer. I can access the web outlook ok but Outlook refuses to connect. I've made sure that the DNS entries are correct for the new server, etc. Also went through the Security Configuration Wizard to make sure that the 2003 firewall is allowing Exchange to do what it needs to do and allow incoming connections to it.I am completely stumped at this point. Does anyone have any ideas?

One thing I forgot to mention. I did have another 2003 Exchange server set up that I tried doing this with last year and I had multiple issues with sending email to the users at the remote office so I gave up and stopped using it. I had left it running until about a month ago when I decided to remove it and start over with a new installation. The uninstall of Exchange did not go very well, giving multiple errors, but then I made sure on the other Exchange server that I removed it from the Administrative Group. When I did this fresh new installation this week, I gave it the same name as the prior server. Not sure if that might have something to do with it or not...

Hi, Would you please let me know? 1. If you create a new mailbox on the new Exchange Server, whether you are able to connect to the mailbox by using Outlook? 2. Please let me know whether the error Exchange is unavailable is encountered when attempting to creating Outlook Profile or when attempting to logon mailbox after creating profile. 3. Please run RPCDump /s on the new Exchange Server and post output of ncacn_ip_tcp Mike Shen TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com
