Add a non-mail enabled group to a distribution group or dynamic distribution group in 2010
Is this possible? We have a security group which is used with Citrix. The Citrix admin will not allow us to mail-enable this group, but we need a distribution group set up for these users.
To save time, it would be great if we could add this group to a distribution group but because it isn't mail-enabled, it appears this isnt possible? THe users within it are mail-enabled.
Is it possible to get around this somehow? Such as creating a dynamic distribution group which looks at the single group. I cannot find a way to define a recipient filter to look at a single group name, instead of an OU or mailbox property.
Any tips?

It wouldn't be hard to script, but if the Citrix group changes membership regularly you might need to set that script up as a scheduled task to run every night to keep up with it.[string](0..33|%{[char][int](46+("686552495351636652556262185355647068516270555358646562655775 0645570").substring(($_*2),2))})-replace " "

Hi,
As per my knowledge, dynamic distribution groups are mail-enabled Active Directory group objects, which are created to expedite
the mass sending of e-mail messages and other information within an Exchange organization.
Unlike regular distribution groups that contain a defined set of members, the membership list for dynamic distribution
groups is calculated each time a message is sent to the group, based on the filters and conditions that you define. When an e-mail message is sent to a dynamic distribution group, it is delivered to all recipients in the organization that match the criteria
defined for that group.
So, I think you can’t create a dynamic distribution to include the non-mail-enabled group.
For more information, you can refer to the article
'Create a Dynamic Distribution Group'.
Hope this helps.

The Citrix guys wont let me mail-enable the citrix group in AD unfortunately.
I'm just going to have to go back to them and say that theres no other way and why exactly do they not want it mail-enabled. Either that or just script the group membership on a regular basis as mentioned above.
