Add FE Server to Single Server Environment
I currently have a single server including doing OWA and RPC. I followed the instructions at http://www.petri.co.il/how-can-i-configure-rpc-over-https-on-exchange-2003-single-server-scenario.htm to setup RPC on the single server. I'd now like to add a FE server to only handle OWA initially. 99% of our users are OWA and I'd like to take the IIS load off the BE box. Is it as simple as installing the FE, setting up OWA, and the SSL? Will adding the FE affect my current RPC setup on the BE server? Thanks!

Yes, its not that complicated. Just make sure that for all your incoming emails and connections from your FW points to your FE which was earlier pointing to your BE server.Raj

Hi,As my understanding that RPC has been deployed on the BE. Then so please make sure that rpc proxy has been published so that outside users can connect to your rpc server. For FE, I think you can deploy it. And all the request will be getby FE and then it willproxy requestto BE. Front-End and Back-End Topologies Overview http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997482(EXCHG.65).aspxRegards,Xiu
