Add Dutch proofing tools to my English Office 2010 installation

Hi,

I'd like to to download and install the dutch proofing tools for my Office 2010 installation on windows XP SP3 32 bit. I have an MSDN Premium subscription. Can someone tell me how to proceed?

The link in MSWord to install the proofing tools (Review->Language->Language Preferences->Dutch "not installed link" direct me to a download for the beta version., so this approach i have tried and does not work.

Thanks in advance,

Robert

Hi Robert,

You will have to install dutch language pack for office 2010 to enable the proofing tools. And if you are running Office 2010 RTM, the language packs for it are not available yet. So please wait for a few days.

Do you literally mean few days? So we can expect the Proofing Tools 2010 to be released next week?

Do we have an estimate date for these, many of us using msdn are earlyadopters and consultants and the proofing tools are a vital addition to writing good reports and specs and so on. In office 2010 there isnt possible to install the proofing tools from another language any longer(This has been possible in previous versions, now the installer complains). Many of use also use english os and english office and so on, but need the language support for other languages.

please hurry up with the release,(cant you release different languages as they become available?)

Thanks

I installed Office 2010 Dutch over my existing English installation yesterday, and now I have Dutch proofing tools available in my English installation. I do not have to switch languages to have the Dutch proofing tools available, I can just work in an English Word. So this should work the same for you.

I only have the English version of Office 2010. I don't want to buy a Dutch one too just to have proofing tools (very small budget). However, we still have Proofing Tools 2003 which we used up to 4 days ago with pleasure. It won't install on Office 2010 out of the box. Any way to force this?

Am I the only one around here who thinks it's silly that MS doesn't offer the opportunity to select from several languages at install? This is an international world. Even in the US you need to speak at least 2 languages (English and Spanish) to be able to communicate with everyone. Most professionals in The Netherlands use Windows and Office in English, but need Dutch proofing tools as well. This should be a standard offer.

Another remark: you can buy Office 2010 in Dutch, but as stated above the proofing tools website opened by Word does not offer Dutch... Big oops there.

So, are these Language Packs released yet? And if so, where can we find them? I guess we don't have to pay extra to have Proofing Tools in different languages?

When will the Dutch language pack be available ?

MaSansky - Unlike the Netherlands where the majority speaks Dutch and English, the US is quite different in the way 2 languages are spoken. Originally, it was only English and everybody who came to the country who did not speak English had to learn it. Unfortunately, the Spanish speaking population in the US has no desire to speak English and is slowly eradicating the English language from the US...

I do find it very odd that it took Microsoft this long - should have been something done since Windows 98se - that they allow a way to change languages on the fly. Then again, this is only available on Windows 7 Ultimate after downloading language packs. I thought they would have done the same thing with Office 2010.

Anyways, I feel everybody's pain here waiting for the Dutch language pack. Office Professional 2010 NL will cost up to 100- more than the Office Professional EN / UK version.

Trying to justify upgrading multiple systems for an office that uses both Dutch & English versions of software is very hard given the price difference and no multiple language support.

Hello Longhair, I agree with you totally.

The point I was trying to make is that it is rediculous that Microsoft still insists on users to commit to one language for their software interface and proofing tools. We are not the only multi-language country in the world.

But to get to the subject again: when will Microsoft finally offer the Dutch proofing tools for Office 2010!? The language page Word directs us to is still empty. I am so glad most of our productivity works nowadays is done on Apple computers with both Dutch and English language packs...

Come on Microsoft, get going! 4th of July is over, time to go to work.

How many days are considered "few" in the US? It's been more then 30 now and in our culture that is called "many".

I think Microsoft has their own definition for "a few days" - LOL

Fail on fail again. Now http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/language/?CTT=97 finally has "Nederlands" available, but the "Buy Know" button brings you back here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ again...

Deep sigh... who is doing the testing at Microsoft???

And why do we have to buy this?

Heigh-ho :-(   If you "Buy Now" a different language, French, say, you will get taken to your 'basket'. There you can select Dutch from the dropdown and add it to your basket, then Remove French and continue.   -- Enjoy, Tony   www.WordArticles.com   "MaSansky" wrote in message news:f24fabc9-74c4-4dc6-8d83-a3d757c04b1a... > Fail on fail again. We need Office 2010 Standard english with french and dutch dictionaries but I see there's only french included in the standard 2010. How can I include the dutch files? I doesn't mean I need to change the user interface of Office in dutch or french just that when you type it must recognize dutch and french language.

So the language packs are installations that you put on an already installed office 2010 and that installs everything of that language. I already made a package with Office 2010 MUI with the right language packs but we need a special licence for this so I need to do it the other way but I don't know how.

So Office 2010 Standard English with dutch language corrections is my need.

It doesn't matter which way you do it, you still need extra software and/or licences. English Office does not come with Dutch Proofing Tools. The Dutch version of Office does come with both English and French Proofing Tools, but not with an English UI.

I have both a US and a DUTCH version of Office 2010.

I did the same but the problem was that even though the GUI is (mostly) English once in a while a a Dutch error message or other type of message pops up.

A long time ago I copied the contents of the proof folder from a friend's system (Spanish and Catalan) and then copied these files to my proof folder, the spellchecker works perfectly but if I do the same with the Dutch files it tells me there are no Dutch proofing tools present when I press F7 (Spellchecker), so it's not all the consuquent

Any better ideas for me?
