Active Exchange Mailboxes
In an effortfor a migration, I need to figure out which Exchange Mailboxes are active. What is the best way of retriveing that information via script or? I have lots of mailboxes, mailstores, mail servers. I don't mind taking it on mail server at a time, I just needa list. Big clean up effort.

What do you mean as active? Do you mean has a user attached to a mailbox? You can right click on the mailbox folder in Exchange System Manager and select, Run Clean Up Agent. This will mark any mailboxes with no AD user attached with a Red X.Mark Morowczynski|MCSE 2003:Messaging, Security|MCITP: Enterprise Support|MCTS:Windows Mobile Admin|Security+|http://almostdailytech.com

No, I mean as in still being used. We have discovered many enabled accounts with mailboxes and some people have permissions to them, even though the employee is no longer there. I was wondering if there was a way to to know if the mailboxes are still being used.

You can use ExMerge to see how much mail has been delivered by a specific date. However, if you have employee accounts that are still active in the domain but no longer work there, that is a security risk. I would say disable those accounts and find owners for those mailboxes.
